Danielle and I drink a lot of beer. We also tend to travel a lot, while keeping beer as a factor.
We have traveled to Gatlinburg, TN twice together now and both times have had this spot as a must. This is the Smoky Mountain Brewery. It is part of a chain with restaurants such as Calhoun’s, Copper Cellar, and other Smoky Mountain Breweries. This place has a ski lodge setting and is very inviting. The dining room is upstairs while the brewing tanks are downstairs visible from outside.
SMB is known for their pizza and beer. They have delicious pizza and anyone that likes pizza should give it a try. They also have a killer selection of home brewed beers. They usually have 10 beers on draft at any given time. A sampler of 5oz glasses of each beer will cost you about $6 and it will give you an idea of what you are in for. No matter what kind of a beer drinker you are, SMB has a beer for you. Whether it’s their Mountain Light for light beer fans, to their Cherokee Red Ale for the slightly darker fans, to their Appalachian Pale Ale for anyone that likes their IPA’s, SMB has you covered.
Danielle and I have been there on two different occasions, the Fall of 2009 and the Fall of 2010. On both occasions they have had killer evening beer specials. After 9pm on Sundays through Thursdays until close, all 10oz drafts are only 99cents. Just this past September the weather was really nice so the place was rather hopping the night we went. If you are not a big fan of small drafts, you can always get their Super Mugs of beer which hold 32oz of beer at a very reasonable price.
If you ever find yourself in the Gatlinburg, TN area and are craving a delicious craft beer, make sure that you stop into the Smoky Mountain Brewery.
